Prof., M.A., Ph.D. Milan Hejný is a leading Czech and Slovak expert in mathematics didactics. After graduating from the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University in Prague (1959), he worked at the Czech Technical University in Prague, at University in Žilina, the International Movie Festival in Bratislava and since 1991 at the Faculty of Education of Charles University in Prague.

Prof. Milan Hejný is the author or co-author of 16 mathematical publications, and more than 270 publications on didactics of mathematics, including 13 books that are often used as references. As part of his studies at the Faculty of Education of Charles University in Prague, he has trained four PhD students and countless graduates. He educated and influenced thousands of teachers and established the preparation of future teachers. He led a research team with whom he founded a recognized school of mathematics didactics.

He is also an Honorary Member of the Union of Czech Mathematicians and Physicists, Honorary Member of the Union of Slovak Mathematicians and Physicists, Honorary Member of the Scientific Board of the Faculty of Education at Charles University in Prague, and he was awarded the Golden Plaque of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics of Comenius University in Bratislava.

In 2010, he was awarded by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports the 1st degree medal, the highest departmental award for long-term outstanding pedagogical activity.

In 2012, he received the „MathProf ONE“ award as part of the „100 Czech Best“ project.

In 2013, a special prize was awarded to him as part of the Project Mathematics.
