Veronika Jonášová studied journalism and media studies at Charles University in Prague and at the Institute of Political Science at Sciences Po in Paris; her field of study was communication. Since 2002 she has worked as a reporter for Lidové noviny, from 2007 to 2017 she worked as a reporter and presenter in Czech Television news, then moved to the Seznam News project.

She is now freelance, writes for Czech media and records for Czech Television. She is the author of the books ‘Berliner’ and ‘The Diary of Mother’, and co-author of the book ‘The Story of Berlin’. In addition to journalistic work, she filmed social-themed documentaries, such as one for the Czech Television’s Fokus program for example, and furthermore she participated in the Czech Television’s 13th Chamber documentaries. She has been filming continuously in Světlá nad Sázavou since 2010, where the documentary Child and Punishment was created, made several reports for Czech Television, and has 168 hours’ worth of broadcasts. In 2014, she made a short journalistic movie ‘With Mom in Prison’. The movie was premiered in September 2018 and was co-produced with the Czech Television. The documentary won the Best Foreign Film Award at the International Prison Film Festival in Olsztyn, Poland.
