Martina V. Kopecká

Pastor of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church, Psychotherapist, and Crisis Intervention Specialist

Bio

Martina Viktorie Kopecká is a pastor of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church, a goodwill ambassador since 2021, a psychotherapist, and a crisis intervention specialist. She studied theology at Charles University, followed by psychology and special education. Currently, she is working on her dissertation project. It was only through her job at a large company that she discovered what she did not want to do in life and began searching for her own path. Her studies in theology became a great passion, leading her to follow the voice of her heart and become a spiritual leader. It was not an easy journey, but today she knows that it could not have been any other way. As a pastor, she serves God and people, performs baptisms, conducts weddings, accompanies individuals on their final journey, and holds church services. Since 2013, she has been a member of the central executive committee of the World Council of Churches. Pope Francis recognized her ecumenical work with a medal and invited her to participate in the bishops’ synod at the Vatican as the only ordained woman – clergy – present. She continues to educate herself, seeks to broaden her horizons, and is learning to ride a bike. She recently completed psychotherapeutic training in family therapy for psychosomatic disorders. An enthusiastic reader of all genres, she writes a blog about the life of a modern pastor called “Deník farářky” (Diary of a Pastor), which has been published as a book, followed by a book interview “Zpověď farářky” (Confession of a Pastor), released this September. In the latest season of the show “Stardance,” she danced all the way to the finals, but as she herself states: “fortunately, I didn’t win.” She finds the most relaxation in a gallery at an exhibition.

WHAT DOES ABUNDANCE MEAN TO YOU?

Abundance is not about quantity, about the desire to “have as much as possible,” but rather about gratitude for what we have, about sharing, about humility. Having something also means taking on the responsibility to manage it well. Only then can we rejoice in abundance.
