ABOUT LIFE ACROSS GENRES

We are going to introduce singer and actress Tonya Graves in a discussion with moderators. This tiny looking but larger than life woman will kick off our international festival „For All the Women“ in Brno. Why her? What role have we, as Czechs, prepared for this individual who at first may look like a stranger in our picturesque little country? What did Tonya face at the beginning of her stay in the Czech Republic and what is she facing now? How is she involved in the community; or is she involved at all? Would she advise other foreigners to live in the Czech Republic? If so, would she pick Prague or Brno?

Tonya released her second solo album „Back To Blues“ last year, which she decided to devote to this genre – blues. Although Tonya is a multi-genre singer, she considers blues as her heart and soul. Blues is perceived as a sad genre, so we are interested to see what has led Tonya to it; what musical styles have shaped her personality during childhood, adolescence and motherhood?
